Carolyn Bendel
Carolyn Bendel is a mixed media artist from Chicago, Illinois and currently living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a Masters of Fine Arts in 2009 from The Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
Bendel uses quotidian objects in her artwork to evoke nostalgia as well as uncanny future possibilities. She believes sensations gained through the witnessing of art are experienced and internalized. This sensation holds power in everyone while remaining a unique experience. Simultaneous internal sensations are capable of creating a critical mass by which external critical mass and revolution emerges. Bendel aims to inspire personal, social and political reformation.
